Synopsis: This started off as a rant about my stomach screaming in the silent classroom as the prompt was to write the first thing that popped into our heads. However it quickly tuned into a description of how the world is for me, an African American girl, told through the use metaphors to my body.

Synopsis: This originally started out as a response to Mark Strand's poem "Keeping Things Whole". After the first two revision, I realized that I was hiding another story within the original, and this is it.

Synopsis: The first iteration of my poem "Dear Mother". It includes three sections: the first section is written as rhymed poetry while the second half drops the rhyme and becomes a reverse poem, and finally the last section goes back into a rhyming format.
